The LA Galaxy unveiled their latest player today, David Beckham. What this means for football here in the U.S. is anybody's guess, there is little interest in the game beyond certain ethnic demographics, the Galaxy are hoping that global superstar Beckham will help change that. He has a lucrative deal, big-time endorsements and a growing celebrity index. His first game will be an exhibition match against Chelsea next week, it's sold out, a sign of things to come perhaps, or maybe just an initial curiosity. On the subject of football,
well, table football anyway, 20ltd, a site that brings all kinds of exclusive stuff to the rich and bored, has an over the top table football game available for a limited time. It apparently takes more than 400 man hours to make, which is a lot more than it takes to build a Mercedes they say, and is made up of all kinds of silly bells and whistles that you would only consider if you have money to burn--ergonomically-designed handles, precious metals, different weight balls and, in a particularly limited form a 'god versus evil" game--featuring two teams--here's the line-up.
It costs somewhere in the region of $40k--no I'm not joking, about the cost of half an hour of Beckham playing for the Galaxy!
