Gil Scott-Heron has been called the Godfather of Rap, his work in the 70s was seminal and often incendiary, The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, was at least one piece that rose up and grabbed a huge slice of the listening ears back in the day, and then...? He disappeared, drugs and a bit of time in prison unfortunately, but he is back with a new album. It's going to be called I'm New Here and will be released in February. If the single is anything to go by then it will be surely worth getting. Sounds like a lot of Massive Attack influnce. It will be released on XL, home to Radiohead among others--good for them. It is always good to rediscover an old musical friend who is still vital.
There is also a new single from Gorillaz, from their forthcoming full-length, it's called, Stylo and features Mos Def and Bobbie Womack.
