You would think they were part of the commonwealth given how much America seems to love a Royal wedding. I have no particular axe to grind about monarchies and republics-- up the workers in both I say and both seem to fall well short of that. My beef in the royal wedding has to do with the church--it's 2011 and there was not one single female presence in the officiating of the wedding--talk about affirming Patriarchy! I can't believe that they could invite the world into the church and not take the opportunity to affirm the role that women play in the life of the church-- well done one more time church of England.
