One of my favourite exhibits this year. Stefan Sagmeister's Happy Show at the Geffen Contemporary was a fabulous little show. I say little, because it was essentially just a couple of large rooms, but that does not convey the level of interest. Sagmeister, who I think is one of the more interesting graphic/ad/design people out there is continually challenging the way his business 'does business.' He is in the process of taking a 'retirement' year about every five years or so, a sabbatical of sorts that during which he goes off and works out some issue or idea in his life. This show relates to some reflections he has made about happiness--what it is; what makes us happy; theories of happiness etc. Pretty much everything in the show was portrayed in yellow, black and white, which added to the impact.
There is a tumblr set up where attendees are posting their images and thoughts.
