My friend Gareth Higgins is one of the more insightful writers and thinkers about film that I know. He has a way of grasping the depth and subtlety of what so often goes on in a film and brings rich ideas to the surface to help the rest of us who are often blind to what is really going on. I remember driving around LA with Gareth not so long ago and him telling me of his plan to write a book about film with a specfic angle and today it is released.
Cinematic States is a book about America, its myths and and cinema. It's a journey in film through the fifity states--brilliant concept and brilliantly executed. Gareth is a great storyteller and this book oozes with them. You can but the book today from Amazon, and I recommend you do.
