When it comes to country music I tread very carefully. I like some of it immensely, but much of the mainstream stuff leaves me really cold. I used to say that I didn't like country music at all, but that's not really true, I like quite a lot of country music--Steve Earle, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, to name a few, but as you can see, it tends to be country music of a particular kind. Lindi Ortega used to be a backing singer for The Killers, but now she's on her own and doing country, kind of--it's an umbrella for a wide variety of musical choices that she explores. Tin Star is her fifth album and it's great. She has something in her voice, a bit of grit, a touch of hauntedness, that really appeals to me. She's been called the country-Amy Winehouse-I kindof see that, but she's her own person and has her own style, either way, I'm enjoying it--yeehaaaaaaa!!!
